New Reads in Teen Fantasy

We’ve been getting a lot of interesting new books from Cedar Fort lately. Many involve time travel, archaeological adventure, and secret powers!

The Golden Flute
By Catherine Lanigan

From New York Times bestselling author Catherine Lanigan comes a new adventure! Teen treasure hunters Lilli and Zane have grown up in a wold of ancient artifacts, coded messages, and long-buried mysteries. But there’s no telling what they’ll unearth when they face off against the infamous Zorav and his even more menacing advisor.

With the fate of the world in their hands, Lilli and Zane will have to stay one step ahead of danger, find the treasured artifacts, and keep them far away from their enemies or face death – and maybe even worse.

The Kindling
By Braden Bell

All thirteen-year-old Coner Dell wants to do is pass pre-algebra, play lacrosse, and possibly kiss Melanie Stephens. He didn’t mean to set anyone’s gym shorts on fire or make school lunches explode. But now that the strange powers inside him have been ignited, Conner’s normal teenage life is about to go up in flames!

The Lost Curse
By T. Lynn Adams

Jonathon has had more than enough adventure for one lifetime. That’s why he’s planning to spend this summer camping in quiet central Utah with his Peruvian friend Severino. But when the two of them accidentally discover an ancient artifact, they wind up in more danger than ever!

Now Jonathon, Severino, and their new friend, Tallie, will have to choose between protecting a secret that’s been hidden for centuries and saving their own lives!

Shayla Witherwood:
A Half-Faerie Tale

By Tamra Toreo

Shayla Witherwood is not exactly normal. First, she’s spent her entire life being homeschooled, traveling in an RV around the country with her grandparents. And second, there’s the kind of inescapable fact that her mom was a genuine faerie.

But now that she’s starting a real life in a regular high school, Sayla desperately needs to stay out of trouble in both worlds, because even her faerie powers might not be enough to protect her from what’s coming.

The Rifts of Rime
By Steven L. Peck

In a world overtaken by greed and a ruthless, power-hungry dictator, Pinecone knows he’s no warrior. But when he’s entrusted with the sacred Scroll of Quickening, an ancient record that holds great power, Pinecone must summon the courage to protect the scroll. If he doesn’t, its secrets will be lost forever.

Meanwhile, Pinecone’s friend Leafe is mounting a makeshift rebellion to fend off the Thane, whose evil might grows stronger every day. But her efforts may force her into some troubling alliances.

Reminiscent of Brian Jacques’s Redwall series, this is a thrilling story full of suspense, surprises, and an epic struggle of good versus evil.
