Church Ball and a Carnival Conversion

Church basketball as a missionary tool for the LDS church? It’s a sport long revered, feared, and fought over. But in Mormon Yankees by Fred Woods, we find stories of how church ball has changed the lives of people in Australia, and indeed all over the world.

Sonja Herbert had a different sort of upbringing, even for post-war Germany. She and her siblings were raised in a traveling carnival, and when she met two LDS missionaries, her convictions about life changed.
