We have some fun valentines for your kids to give out on Valentine’s Day!
Congratulations to the class of 2016! Whether you are graduating from High School, College, or even Preschool, or know somebody who is, we have the perfect gifts here at the Book Table.
We have a great collaboration of graduation product on a display in our General Books Department. On this display, you will find books, scrap-booking supplies, pins, awards, and more to help make Graduation 2016 a day worth remembering. Come in and check it out!
Meet the World’s Funniest Kindergartner—Junie B. Jones! It’s kindergarten graduation, and Room Nine is getting bright white graduation gowns. Mrs. says to keep them in their boxes until the big day. But Junie B. Jones just can’t help herself. Then—uh-oh!—an accident happens! Will graduation be a spotty dotty disaster?
Celebrate graduation day with the Berenstain Bears! It’s the end of the school year and Bear Country School is holding a graduation ceremony for all the students. This year, Brother and Sister will get to wear a cap and gown—and get a diploma. But what about Honey Bear? Will she be able to join in on the fun? Read along as the Berenstain Bears learn about the true meaning of the end of the school year.
The Berenstain Bears books have been loved by generations, and with well-known characters and beautiful illustrations, this 8×8 picture book is a perfect gift for young graduates.
A perennial favorite, Dr. Seuss’s wonderfully wise graduation speech is the perfect send-off for children starting out in the world, be they nursery school, high school, or college grads! From soaring to high heights and seeing great sights to being left in a Lurch on a prickle-ly perch, Dr. Seuss addresses life’s ups and downs with his trademark humorous verse and illustrations, while encouraging readers to find the success that lies within. In a starred review, Booklist notes: “Seuss’s message is simple but never sappy: life may be a ‘Great Balancing Act,’ but through it all ‘There’s fun to be done.’”
The commencement speech is the most popular public address of our time, shared every spring and remembered for years. Here, in an anthology of some of the finest of the genre, brilliant creative minds in every sector offer their wisdom: David Foster Wallace on living a compassionate life, Debbie Millman on the importance of taking risks, Michael Lewis on the responsibility that good fortune merits—and so many other greats. Some of this advice is grand (believe in the impossible), and some of it is granular enough to check off a life list (donate five percent of your money or your time). All of it is universally uplifting.
Handsomely packaged with a cloth spine and energetic typography throughout, this book is a smart, special gift for graduates and anyone embarking on a new adventure.
A lot of professors give talks titled “The Last Lecture.” Professors are asked to consider their demise and to ruminate on what matters most to them. And while they speak, audiences can’t help but mull the same question: What wisdom would we impart to the world if we knew it was our last chance? If we had to vanish tomorrow, what would we want as our legacy?
When Randy Pausch, a computer science professor at Carnegie Mellon, was asked to give such a lecture, he didn’t have to imagine it as his last, since he had recently been diagnosed with terminal cancer. But the lecture he gave–“Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams”–wasn’t about dying. It was about the importance of overcoming obstacles, of enabling the dreams of others, of seizing every moment (because “time is all you have…and you may find one day that you have less than you think”). It was a summation of everything Randy had come to believe. It was about living.
In this book, Randy Pausch has combined the humor, inspiration and intelligence that made his lecture such a phenomenon and given it an indelible form. It is a book that will be shared for generations to come.
“We cannot change the cards we are dealt, just how we play the hand.” –Randy Pausch

The Murder Mystery Mansion game challenges your guessing and deductive reasoning skills. Two players or two teams can go head to head, with one placing four different cards (one suspect, one method, one motive and one place) behind the stairs and out of sight.
The other player or team makes its way up the steps as they guess which cards are the hidden ones, with their opponent telling them which ones are correct matches. Guessing all four cards correctly before reaching the top of the stairs gets the player or team a point. This mystery card game includes guess tokens, pegs for keeping score as well as the cards with suspects, motives and more. It is recommended for ages 8 and older.

Project Life is a solution-based approach to scrapbooking that was created to simplify the process in order to allow you more time to enjoy life! It requires no glue, no scissors, no tools, and no skills of any kind. Check out the video below to get an idea:
We love this line because not only is it super easy, it is also really fun, and the kits are way cute! The Project Life “way” of memory-keeping is so crazy-simple, it has become known as “revolutionary” in the scrapbooking industry. All you need is one of the Core Kits, a Binder, and a Big Pack of 60 Photo Pocket Pages. By pairing your pictures and words with these basic products, you will be able to tell your story, in your own way, resulting in a complete album.
This back-to-basics approach to scrapbooking appeals to the person who’s never made a scrapbook in their life as well as those with experience because it allows you to feel the freedom that comes from letting go of the “guilt” that so many associate with the memory keeping process.
Come in and ask our girls upstairs about Project Life!
