Games for all ages!

AGES 2-5

sneakyTHE SNEAKY SNACKY SQUIRREL GAME

  • Your forest pals are hungry and need your help! Help them find their acorns in this fun and addictive preschool game
  • Spin the spinner and pick up the matching acorn with your Squirrel Squeezer, placing it in your log. The first to collect 5 acorns wins
  • Multi-award-winning, cute and colorful board game designed to teach young children about colors. Easy to understand and play – no reading required
  • Reinforces color learning and helps develop matching skills, strategic thinking, turn-taking, hand-eye coordination, and fine motor skills

HISSShisss

As each Hisss snake slithers its way across the playing area it introduces color identification and visual logic: Does it make sense to have a snake with two tails and no head? Are those two colors the same or not? Even elementary counting skills come into play during scoring at the end of the game. HOW TO PLAY: In this simple, elegant card game, players match colors and and make snakes from heads to tails. Long snakes, short snakes, purple, yellow and rainbow snakes. Finish a snake and add it to your snake pit. The player with the most snakes at the end of the game wins.

FEED THE KITTY

kittyRoll the dice but don’t lose your mice! In this fast moving game, try to keep your mice away from the kitty. Roll an arrow and pass one to the left. Roll a sleeping cat and you’re lucky to squeak by. But roll a bowl and it’s dinner time for kitty! The last player left with mice wins.

Feed the Kitty is as simple as a cat’s life. Mice are on the menu, and as they move from place to place, it’s anyone’s guess who will end up hungry and who will get to have a full belly. Will you be caught catnapping or will you pounce into the lead? The answer is all in the roll of the dice!

Ages 4 and up, no reading required.

AGES 6-8

BELLZ!bellz

Bellz! is deceptively simple, yet supremely challenging at the same time. Open the travel pouch, and you’re ready to play!

The pouch opens to become the game arena. Inside are forty custom bells in four colors and three different sizes. Players use the magnet wand to pick up bells of only one color. Make a string off the end of the magnet wand, or create a cluster — just don’t pick up bells of any other color or your turn ends. Each player must decide how far to push their luck on every turn. The first player to collect all ten bells of one color wins!

GOOGLY EYES

googlyGoogly Eyes is the hilarious family game that challenges your vision and leaves you googling for more! Put on the zany, vision-altering google eye glasses and start to draw while your team tries to guess what you’re drawing. Is that an igloo or a turtle? A birthday cake or a fortress? Players take turns drawing and guessing, so everyone gets a chance to wear the glasses. The glasses come with three sets of lenses that range from mild changes to mind-blowing fun, so no one can see (or draw) straight–your vision will bounce off of the lenses. Googly Eyes is a fun twist on classic drawing games that lets players of different ages and skill levels compete on equal terms, since the goggles make it fun and challenging for everyone. Unlike any other drawing game you don’t need to be an artist, and the rules are simple. Just roll the die and move–the space you land on tells you which color lenses to use (easy, medium, or hard). Then pick a card, set the timer, and start drawing. If your team guesses correctly you get to roll and move again; if not, then you stay where you are on the board. The first team to reach Finish wins.

AGES 8-12

EXPLODING KITTENSkittens

MYSTERIUM

mysA horrible crime has been committed on the grounds of Warwick Manor and it’s up to the psychic investigators to get to the bottom of it. In Mysterium, one player takes on the role of the ghost and over the course of a week, tries to lead the investigators to their culprit. Each night the team will be met with visions, but what is the ghost trying to tell you? Can the psychics determine the weapon, location and killer or will a violent criminal pull off the perfect murder?

FAMILY GAMES

KINGDOM BUILDERkingdom

In Kingdom Builder, the players create their own kingdoms by skillfully building their settlements, aiming to earn the most gold at the end of the game.

Nine different kinds of terrain are on the variable game board, including locations and castles. During his turn, a player plays his terrain card and builds three settlements on three hexes of this kind. If possible, a new settlement must be built next to one of that player’s existing settlements. When building next to a location, the player may seize an extra action tile that he may use from his next turn on. These extra actions allow extraordinary actions such as moving your settlements.

By building next to a castle, the player will earn gold at the end of the game, but the most gold will be earned by meeting the conditions of the three Kingdom Builder cards; these three cards (from a total of ten in the game) specify the conditions that must be met in order to earn the much-desired gold, such as earning gold for your settlements built next to water hexes or having the majority of settlements in a sector of the board.

Each game, players will use a random set of Kingdom Builder cards (3 of 10), special actions (4 of 8), and terrain sectors to build the map (4 of 8), ensuring you won’t play the same game twice!

TICKET TO RIDE: RAILS & SAILS

rails-and-sailsTicket to ride rails & sails is the new installment in this best-selling train adventure series. Players collect cards of various types (trains and ships) that enable them to claim railway and sea routes on a nicely illustrated double-sided board, featuring the world map on one side and the great lakes of North America on the other. Elegantly simple and fast to learn, it takes the ticket to ride series to the next level! veteran railroaders as well as family and friends will be delighted to set sail to the new horizons of ticket to ride rails and sails…

REVERSE CHARADESreverse

Reverse Charades flips the charade standard of one person giving clues to a large group on its head by splitting the players (six or more) into two teams, then having all but one person on a team work together to get that one person to guess as many words as possible in sixty seconds. Each guessed word is worth one point; each word spoken or mouthed costs that team a point.

After each player has guessed once, the team with the most points wins.

SHERIFF OF NOTTINGHAM

sheriff

In Sheriff of Nottingham, players will take turns stepping into the shoes of the Sheriff himself, while others act as Merchants attempting to bring their goods into the city for profit! Beware though, while many may act as honest merchants, there is always the possibility of contraband being smuggled into the city!

CODENAMES

Two rival spymasters know the secret identities of 25 agents. Their teammates know the agents only by their CODENAMES.code

In Codenames, two teams compete to see who can make contact with all of their agents first. Spymasters give one-word clues that can point to multiple words on the board. Their teammates try to guess words of the right color while avoiding those that belong to the opposing team. And everyone wants to avoid the assassin.

Codenames: Win or lose, it’s fun to figure out the clues.

Next on this year’s list of staff picks for Christmas, our Music deparment manager Katherine has chosen to tell you some of her favorite Christmas music books and products.

The Christmas Family Songbook

Most of you will probably remember the Readers Digest Merry Christmas Songbook.  When it went out of print, there was so much outrage, that Alfred Publishing decided to do something about it.

This songbook is a beautiful, hardcover, keepsake that will encourage your family to enjoy some fun Christmas sing-alongs this season!  Filled with over 100 of your favorite Christmas songs, these carols are all easy to play, and it comes with accompaniment CD as well as digital lyric sheets that you can print and share.  $34.99.

Holidays Extraordinaire!

Following the highly successful publication, Strings Extraordinaire!, this new collection offers 25 arrangements for Christmas, Chanukah, and wintertime. Like its predecessor, Holidays Extraordinaire! is a progressive collection designed for students of different playing levels.

All pieces are scored with an advanced and beginning part for each instrument, while being progressively ordered throughout. Two selections feature a special advanced solo obbligato part. Holidays Extraordinaire! is perfect for those festive December concerts when orchestras of varied levels perform together.

A Songbook for LDS Families by Janice Kapp Perry

A Songbook for LDS Families highlights eighteen beloved and well-known songs, as well as twenty-eight newly penned Book of Mormon hymns composed by Janice Kapp Perry with text by Bonnie Hart Murray. The first section of this beautifully designed book showcases musical scores everyone loves, as well as new sister missionary arrangements of As Sisters in Zion and In the Hollow of Thy Hand. Incredible insights into the stories behind the cherished lyrics accompany each song.

In addition to the choral arrangements, section two explains the process and highlights the scriptures that inspired the creation of these new Book of Mormon hymns. Also included in this special-edition volume are two CDs containing accompaniment tracks to all forty-six pieces of music. Underscored by the stunning artwork of Greg Olsen, Simon Dewey, and Tom Lovell, as well as the complete Book of Mormon art collection by Arnold Friberg, this unparalleled celebration of faith-promoting music is sure to be a treasured keepsake.
