After a lifetime of loving Margo from afar, things are finally looking up for Q . . . until day breaks and she has vanished. Always an enigma, Margo has now become a mystery. But there are clues. And they’re for Q.

Printz Medalist John Green returns with the trademark brilliant wit and heart-stopping emotional honesty that have inspired a new generation of readers.

The Scorch Trials by James Dashner

In theaters September 18, 2015

Solving the Maze was supposed to be the end.

Thomas was sure that escape from the Maze would mean freedom for him and the Gladers. But WICKED isn’t done yet. Phase Two has just begun. The Scorch.

There are no rules. There is no help. You either make it or you die.

The Gladers have two weeks to cross through the Scorch—the most burned-out section of the world. And WICKED has made sure to adjust the variables and stack the odds against them.

Friendships will be tested. Loyalties will be broken. All bets are off.

There are others now. Their survival depends on the Gladers’ destruction—and they’re determined to survive.

The Martian by Andy Weir

In theaters October 2, 2015

Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he’s sure he’ll be the first person to die there.

After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he’s alive—and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive.

Chances are, though, he won’t have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plain-old “human error” are much more likely to kill him first.

But Mark isn’t ready to give up yet. Drawing on his ingenuity, his engineering skills—and a relentless, dogged refusal to quit—he steadfastly confronts one seemingly insurmountable obstacle after the next. Will his resourcefulness be enough to overcome the impossible odds against him?

Mockingjay Pt 2 by Suzanne Collins

In theaters November 20, 2015

“My name is Katniss Everdeen. Why am I not dead? I should be dead.”

Katniss Everdeen, girl on fire, has survived, even though her home has been destroyed. There are rebels. There are new leaders. A revolution is unfolding.

District 13 has come out of the shadows and is plotting to overthrow the Capitol. Though she’s long been a part of the revolution, Katniss hasn’t known it. Now it seems that everyone has had a hand in the carefully laid plans but her.

The success of the rebellion hinges on Katniss’s willingness to be a pawn, to accept responsibility for countless lives, and to change the course of the future of Panem. To do this, she must put aside her feelings of anger and distrust. She must become the rebels’ Mockingjay – no matter what the cost.

Janitors Book 2 Release Date and… the Mark of Athena

Hey all! You’ve been waiting for the second Janitors book to come out, haven’t you? Not only is the first in Tyler Whitesides’ smash hit series now in paperback, but the second will come out soon. The release date for Janitors, Book 2, Secrets of New Forest Academy is September 4.

Can you feel the excitement? Can you feel the suspense? What will happen to Spencer, Daisy and Dez- yes, I said Dez- when the Bureau of Educational Maintenance is after them?

If you’ve been waiting eagerly for more Roman/Greek adventure, you will be pleased soon after the second Janitors comes out, because Heroes of Olympus, Book 3: The Mark of Athena will be on our shelves October 2. Normally Rick Riordan indulges his fans by posting the first chapter on his website. However, we have not been able to find it. Perhaps he wants to keep us in suspense a little longer.

Either way, mark your calendars for some fantastic YA reading this fall.

Annabeth is terrified. Just when she’s about to be reunited with Percy—after six months of being apart, thanks to Hera—it looks like Camp Jupiter is preparing for war. As Annabeth and her friends Jason, Piper, and Leo fly in on the Argo II, she can’t blame the Roman demigods for thinking the ship is a Greek weapon. With its steaming bronze dragon masthead, Leo’s fantastical creation doesn’t appear friendly. Annabeth hopes that the sight of their praetor Jason on deck will reassure the Romans that the visitors from Camp Half-Blood are coming in peace.

And that’s only one of her worries. In her pocket Annabeth carries a gift from her mother that came with an unnerving demand: Follow the Mark of Athena. Avenge me. Annabeth already feels weighed down by the prophecy that will send seven demigods on a quest to find—and close— the Doors of Death. What more does Athena want from her?

Annabeth’s biggest fear, though, is that Percy might have changed. What if he’s now attached to Roman ways? Does he still need his old friends? As the daughter of the goddess of war and wisdom, Annabeth knows she was born to be a leader, but never again does she want to be without Seaweed Brain by her side.

Narrated by four different demigods, The Mark of Athena is an unforgettable journey across land and sea to Rome, where important discoveries, surprising sacrifices, and unspeakable horrors await. Climb aboard the Argo II, if you dare. . . .

Brotherband Chronicles & Kane Chronicles Release Date

Eagerly awaiting the release of book 2 in the Brotherband Chronicles by John Flanagan? The Invaders comes out May 1, 2012! It’s going to be awesome! Those of who have read the Ranger’s Apprentice series know how exciting this is. We want to read more about the fantastic world John Flanagan has contrived.

And another interesting thing about May 1, 2012 is the release of The Serpent’s Shadow, book 3 in Rick Riordan’s Kane Chronicles trilogy. What’s next for Carter and Sadie Kane? We’ll find out on May 1.

When young magicians Carter and Sadie Kane learned how to follow the path of the ancient Egyptian gods, they knew they would have to play an important role in restoring Ma’at—order—to the world. What they didn’t know is how chaotic the world would become. The Chaos snake Apophis is loose and threatening to destroy the earth in three days’ time. The magicians are divided. The gods are disappearing, and those that remain are weak. Walt, one of Carter and Sadie’s most gifted initiates, is doomed and can already feel his life force ebbing. Zia is too busy babysitting the senile sun god, Ra, to be of much help. What are a couple of teenagers and a handful of young trainees to do?

There is, possibly, one way to stop Apophis, but it is so difficult that it might cost Carter and Sadie their lives, if it even works at all. It involves trusting the ghost of a psychotic magician not to betray them, or worse, kill them. They’d have to be crazy to try. Well, call them crazy.

With hilarious asides, memorable monsters, and an ever-changing crew of friends and foes, the excitement never lets up in The Serpent’s Shadow, a thoroughly entertaining and satisfying conclusion to the Kane Chronicles trilogy.

Josi S. Kilpack Serving Up Another Tasty Novel

We are so pleased to announce the imminent release of Josi S. Kilpack’s newest novel, Banana Split, book seven in her culinary mystery series starring Sadie Hofmiller. You’ll have to wait just a little longer, though, because the release date is March 5!

A tropical paradise seems like the ideal place for amateur detective Sadie Hofmiller to relax and unwind from the panic attacks that have begun to control her life. But when Sadie accepts the offer to stay at a friend’s condo on the island of K’auai, her perfect vacation turns into a nightmare. On a snorkeling trip with the Blue Muumuus, a community group of adventurous older women, Sadie finds herself entangled, quite literally, with the dead body of Noelani Pouha, a local drug addict. The police are convinced they know exactly what happened to Noelani. Reeling from the shock of her own near-drowning, Sadie has no interest in looking for any other possible answers until Noelani’s son appears on her doorstep, presenting her with a reason to gather her inner strength, rally her investigative powers, and use what she’s learned from her past cases to try and find closure . . . for both of them.

…Excited? So are we! So much, in fact, that we found the first two chapters of Banana Split on Josi S. Kilpack’s website. Read them, and dish up a recipe for Island Teriyaki Chicken while you are at it.

More On the Hunger Games Movie

It’s been awhile, but we’ve finally got more information about the film version of the Hunger Games, set to release March 23, 2012.

Meet Katniss Everdeen, played by Jennifer Lawrence, who takes her 12-year-old sister’s place in the Hunger Games. The story is set in the future, where North America is now the nation of Panem, divided into 12 outlying districts surrounding the privileged Capitol. The Hunger Games are reality TV gone crazy. In order to keep the districts under control, each one is forced to send a boy and a girl, ages 12-18, to the Hunger Games every year in a fight to the death.

Meet Gail and Peeta, played by Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson, respectively. What an interesting look they both have on their faces.

Also in the casting lineup is Woody Harrelson, playing Haymitch (perfect!), and Amandla Stenberg as Rue. I for one am excited to see how she does Rue’s character. I chuckled a bit when I found out Donald Sutherland will be President Snow–who better–and Lenny Kravitz is Cinna.

The rest of the cast is listed on IMDB’s website. What do you think of the casting? Will you go see the movie, or are you too afraid they’ll ruin it? As for me, I’ll see it, but I don’t expect the filmmakers to do it justice.
